Situated near Pripyat, Ukraine, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was a Soviet-era facility generating electricity via four RBMK-1000 reactors. It operated from 1977 until the catastrophic 1986 disaster, which halted power production and caused widespread contamination. While no longer active, the site now benefits scientists studying reactor safety and environmental remediation, alongside tourists visiting the Exclusion Zone.
