Proposed by Alan Turing in 1950, this test evaluates a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior indistinguishable from a human. A human judge converses with both a machine and a person, blind to their identities. If the judge cannot reliably tell which is which, the machine passes. Researchers and AI developers use it to benchmark progress toward human-like artificial intelligence.
